America is Not Ready for a Woman President

I agree completely. No matter how impeccably qualified a female candidate is, the collective response remains, "Not that woman." But to solve this, we must examine the deeper psychological root of why so many people—including women—harbor deep misogyny.

This hostility has its roots in early childhood. As I explored on my blog:

"The real root of female political losses lies in the repressed hatred children once held toward their own mothers—now transferred onto all other women. The original mother remains idealized and protected from rage, while all other women pay the price for the wrongs done to defenseless little boys and girls."

This projection underpins political scapegoating. When children cannot safely acknowledge their mother's faults, they split off their own pain and project that contempt outward onto women in leadership.

As Alice Miller famously observed in For Your Own Good (pp. 42–43):

"Every ideology offers its adherents the opportunity to discharge their pent-up affect collectively while retaining the idealized primary object… the weak and scorned child who is part of the total self but has been split off and never acknowledged can now be openly scorned and assailed in this scapegoat."

Until society confronts the truth about childhood repression and projection, political misogyny will continue unchecked.
