Real Connections in an Artificial World: A Dance to Freedom

In an era where social media figures inflate their audience through automated bot networks, true reach and connection have become increasingly rare. A short video recently highlighted this phenomenon, showing how thousands of accounts lost followers when Russian data centers were struck by Ukraine. High-profile figures, including Elon Musk—who lost around 240,000 followers following the strikes—saw daily likes and interactions drop precipitously from tens of thousands down to between 5,000 and 11,000. Observers attributed this sudden drop to disrupted automated bot traffic rather than a mass exodus of genuine human users.

While I may not receive artificial traction from bot amplification on social platforms, I take comfort in knowing that the over 1.6 million readers who visit my blog are real people seeking authentic answers.

Why I Share Freely

If every visitor to my blog had purchased a copy of my book, I might have retired years ago. However, I understand that people who are searching for genuine keys to understanding their triggered childhood repression are often down on their luck and low on financial resources.

When my own childhood repression was first triggered, I was at the end of my dancing career and experiencing the embezzlement of my earnings. I was low on cash and short on resources, exactly when I needed help the most. People facing these painful awakenings often feel as though they have lost everything, and they desperately need access to free, enlightened information to understand what is happening to them. That is why I share my work so freely on this blog—so anyone can access it when they need it most.

The good news is that after resolving childhood repression, once we are no longer blinded by the repressed emotions of the child we once were, we clearly find ways to make a living and achieve financial and emotional autonomy.

As I shared in the introduction to my book (A Dance to Freedom):

"This is why all of us need a path — or a dance, if you will — to freedom. Once you explore your truth, incredible things can start to happen. Chronic symptoms, mental as well as physical, can start to disappear. As Alice Miller writes, we can ‘claim health, clarity and independence for ourselves. Claim them, and maintain them. Only thus can we keep our feet on firm ground, and not be dependent on drugs, gurus, groups or theories that teach us how to change our past.’ The dirty little secret is that we can’t change the things that happened to us. But we can find the courage to face them, mourn our past, and move forward. If a person like me — with no formal education or special talents — can do it, then you can, too. This book, along with all or any of Alice Miller’s books, can be an enlightened witness that helps you with your own dance to freedom.

When I started corresponding with Alice Miller in the last years of her life, I told her that I wanted to help her spread the word about her discoveries. No one who wants the truth should have to wait as long as I did. And that’s why I wrote this book. It’s both a tribute to Alice Miller and a guide to her ideas. I’m not a therapist, and I don’t want to be anyone’s therapist. But I do want to help people as a friend would, by sharing my experiences and explaining how Alice Miller helped me heal when everything else failed. If you struggle with anger, resentment, depression, addiction, disease, or a bad relationship, Alice Miller can help you gain what you missed as a child — ‘truthfulness, clarity and respect for yourself and others.’ I’ve done a lot of the legwork for you, and if you can learn from my story, you can avoid many of the mistakes I made during my own dance to freedom. You can find your freedom a lot sooner than I did. It’s time to liberate yourself from the victim role you fell into as a child when you lacked the resources you needed to take care of yourself and stand up to your oppressors. I’m living proof that Alice Miller’s ideas work. And I’m happy to share my dance to freedom with you in the hope that it inspires you to start your own."

Navigating Adversity and Finding Purpose

Had my book sold millions of copies immediately—allowing me to leave the workplace entirely without being targeted by malignant narcissists or sociopaths—the seeds for my next book, Reenactment: A Dance with Lucifer, would never have been planted. Looking back, it feels as though the universe required me to remain in the workplace to gather firsthand case studies and real-world examples.

I am well aware that malignant narcissists and sociopaths visit this blog to gather enlightened information to refine their game. The most dangerous predators are often educated, using this language to mimic a healed person, acting as if personality, pretending to be good and enlightened, but they are wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Furthermore, I recognize why many readers—having witnessed the psychological warfare campaigns directed at me—choose to visit this blog anonymously out of fear of being targeted themselves by the predators around us.

A Message of Connection: Correspondence with a Reader

Following the publication of my book and my first major workplace trial, a reader reached out to me anonymously:

Dear Sylvie,

I am very sorry to read on your blog that you have been terminated. This is a painful experience, even if you understand, as you do, what is really going on. I wish you all the support you can get from your friends and your inner knowledge. You've made such an incredible journey, and you were able to describe it in your book. So encouraging. I read your book for weeks, time and time again, but now I feel it is even too much for me, and I've lost contact. Sometimes, not always, I don't know how I survived because there weren't any helpful witnesses in my childhood. The bad and cruel experience you describe with your ex, I experienced several times. Sylvie, sometimes I think you could be the right person to become a professional counselor or therapist, or as you would call it. You have the knowledge; you have real and honest exchange and communication in your life. However, I wish you a safe place from which you can continue to do good and lovely things.

Thanks for your book and for speaking out, and all the very best to you – S

Here was my response:

Dear S,

Thank you for writing and for reading my book. I am glad to hear my book is being a helping witness to you.

Understanding that people would rather murder others' souls and destroy others so they can keep their own repression and illusions intact to protect themselves from having to face and feel their own painful truths helps me to get through it, but it still hurts and is a very big reminder of the pain I suffered as a small, defenseless child at the hands of ignorant and abusive teachers and older sisters and brothers. The way they are treating me, they are also showing me unconsciously and compulsively how they were treated as small children and how they have treated their own children.

I am starting a new job soon, and now that I am getting away from this toxic situation, hopefully this will be water under the bridge soon, and I can keep doing my work and continue to be a helping witness to others.

Wishing you the very best to you too, and thank you for understanding,

Sylvie

I followed up with a second note:

Dear S,

I would like to add a few more words to the e-mail I sent you yesterday to let you know that when I read your e-mail, I was feeling down because of the betrayal I suffered at my work and feeling pretty lonely. Reading your understanding words, I didn’t feel so alone; knowing there was someone out there who could see and feel, and who understood what I am going through, was very comforting.

I am sorry you didn’t have a helping witness in your childhood. No child should have to grow up all alone in the painful emotional prisons of their parents, and because of it, you too have to suffer so much, like me, in your adult personal relationships.

Take good care, and again, thank you for writing, and I hope you find your personal freedom soon.

Much love,

Sylvie
