This blog is about learning to understand all of our feelings and learning to consciously face, feel, and experience all of our feelings within the context of our own childhood.
Everything we become and everything that happens to us is connected to childhood. Not every victim becomes an abuser, but every abuser was once a victim of abuse. These are facts. Violence is not genetic; it’s learned.

I made a comment on the YouTube video OUT OF SHADOWS OFFICIAL https://youtu.be/MY8Nfzcn1qQ And someone left a comment with the link below: https://operationdisclosure1.blogspot.com/…/fall-cabal-vide… If you want to understand the cult of Trumpism, you have to watch the videos. The brainwashing and mind control are so powerful! If I didn’t see things clearly, I would have become a trumpeter! Here is the comment I left in my response to watching all the videos. @rowingtothedream: I watched all the videos except number 5 because YouTube removed it. It was very interesting to watch! I know the words written by Vi King are true because since I published my memoir sharing my life experiences and psychological discoveries, I have been ostracized, harassed, persecuted, and the target of psychological warfare. If I had written a book with the same old recycled pretty lies and illusions passed down to us for millions of years, like many best-selling authors out there, who all they do is hide the real state of affairs. I would still be loved at my job of nine and a half years, promoted with a big raise, and my book would have already become a bestseller. By the way, Oprah is the biggest charlatan promoter out there! Charlatans all help each other and kiss each other's asses by promoting each other’s BS to exploit the emotionally blind public. Nothing ever is what it seems. https://sylvieshene.blogspot.com/…/communities-are-micros-o… In our society, if you speak the naked truth and expose the real state of affairs of what really goes on behind closed doors, those with power will mobilize all the forces at their command to try to silence you. https://sylvieshene.blogspot.com/…/big-cover-up-by-sociopat… When it comes to politics, the left and the right are both just different ends of the same stick; they both are fighting for power and money. And, they both use half-disconnected truths mixed with pretty lies, pretty illusions, and catchy slogans for brainwashing and mind control to mobilize the masses to join their political cults and vote them into power. And suppose they feel threatened by a person who can expose their pretty lies and dirty games, they will join forces to destroy a person, a common enemy. In that case, they fear can expose their lies, illusions, and dirty games, like I was, they were people from the left and the right working together very hard with a very well-orchestrated psychological warfare to try to silence me and discredit me and my book, so they could go on with their lies and illusions as usual. As long as most people in our society are blinded by the repressed emotions of the child they once were, there will always be just two choices to vote for, pure evil and the lesser evil. The fight we are witnessing in the stage of the world is not between good and evil, it’s between pure evil and the lesser evil, and they both are just driven by the repressed fears of the child they once were to gain as much power and money to escape from having to re-experience the powerless and the fears of the child they once were!
Most people would rather kill and be killed than face the fears of resolving childhood repression. We live in a world of puppets and puppeteers. https://sylvieshene.blogspot.com/…/the-media-creates-false-… The biggest threat to humanity is people's repressed emotions of the child they once were, blinding them. If people were not emotionally blind, they would be able to see the lies, illusions, and all the traps society constantly puts in front of them. And yes, an emotionally blind humanity with the aid of technology will destroy itself much faster. Pure evil causes a lot more damage than the lesser evil. As we are witnessing… That's why I always vote for the lesser evil, which causes much less damage. There's a big difference between pure evil and the lesser evil.
The Americans who voted for Trump are extremely emotionally blind, and now we all have to pay the price.

I totally agree with Dr. Alice Miller. Our famous Dr. Phil is a great example of this phenomenon. There is a lot of money to be made in all types of therapeutic businesses and treating symptoms. But, as long as we keep ignoring the root of the problem, we only fix our problems temporarily and superficially. Dr. Phil is a fraud, just like Oprah. https://sylvieshene.blogspot.com/2011/04/alice-miller-most-significant-thinker.html
The world is run by gifted and once well-behaved children because most people cannot see behind their gifts and talents -- that they are corrupted to the core. The white color crimes committed by gifted and once well-behaved children cost more money to society at large than all other petty crimes combined, but they rarely get punished in our society.
Power and control are big illusions! My most recent boss has the illusion that he has the power and is in control. I'm glad I will not be close to him when his illusions burst because it will not be pretty! I feel sorry for his wife...
"When a bird is alive... it eats ants. When the bird has died... ants eat it. One tree can be made into a million matchsticks... but only one match is needed to burn a million trees! Circumstances can change at any time... Don't devalue or hurt anyone in this life... You may be powerful today but time is more powerful than you!"
"Loyalty means nothing to a sociopath or narcissist. Healthy people feel attachment and love for the people closest to them, but psychopaths can drop anyone whenever it's convenient for them, and they do so without a hint of guilt or self-doubt. The casual way they discard people illuminates the same shallowness experienced when they idealize people. Although their flattery is personalized and calculated, it's never authentic or genuine. This is why they can backstab and betray "loved ones" without a second thought." [These words describe my most recent boss and this is why he hated me so much because he knew I could see through him and that's why he wanted me gone at all costs]
A NARCISSIST IS STUCK IN CHILDHOOD AND WILL NEVER GROW UP. THEY BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE PERFECT AND THAT IT'S THE WORLD AROUND THEM THAT MUST CATER TO THEM.
The quickest way - and the only way - to change society - is for every member of society to face and resolve childhood repression.
The words below I wrote in a comment are so true! I bet you the sociopaths, bad players, assholes, or whatever you like to call these evil people that kept targeting me in the workplace and tried so hard to destroy me after I published my book, were all once very well-behaved children.
...all the religious nuts and politicians screwing everyone’s life, I guarantee you, they were all once very well-behaved children. Watch out for the well-behaved children, because once they become adults, they are the ones that will screw us in one form or another.
Since publishing my book has been a constant dance with Lucifer...
Addiction and greed are the same things. Greed or addiction means that whatever the object of our affection is, we can never get enough of it. Addicts live in constant fear of losing the object of their affection and go to any lengths to protect it. They will lie, cheat, steal, go to war without thinking twice, and exploit others even their own children. No wonder so many young people are so angry; for when we feel used and exploited we get angry.
M: you are not completely alone, I guess we are a bunch of us each of us in our little corner. what you post is significant as is your book. And the world is falling apart, I refuse to deny it, Things are getting stranger and stranger. Somehow even this Corona reveals a lot, there is even a video somewhere on youtube about corona and narcissists. To me, it is a sort of catalyst, the nakedness of who we are when some of the distractions are being shut off. But I do feel sorry for the weak, kids, some women...
V: I like your description of addiction. It reminds me of Gabor Mate's description. He points out that the most dangerous addiction is an addiction to power. He sees the addictions that we normally perceive as addictions to drugs and substances as maladaptive soothing behaviors that are taught in less-than-happy childhoods.
V, In the end, we only can heal ourselves and if we can accomplish that, that's a lot! I agree the most dangerous addiction is the addiction to power and money.
Emotional abuse is so much worse than physical abuse, if I had been shot in retaliation for writing my book sharing my life experiences and psychological discoveries, I would have had the attention and sympathy of the whole world, but because of the violence I suffered to try to silence me was psychological nobody cares. And I'm left alone to deal with it!
MC: The worst trauma is invisible, it subjects the victim to suffer even more in isolation with the ignorant ones labeled as playing the victim. I have received hints about such an annoying attitude.
MC: It is difficult to keep it all inside you, I am sorry I had to expose what I went through and may have lost much sympathy from former colleagues and friends. But it was more important and healing for me to speak it out. Those that have let or avoided me were not friends after all. The real ones remain, always.
My book has cleaned up all the fakes and phonies in my life, that's what I like the most about my book! It freed me!!! I can count all the real people on one hand.
ST: People can really stink sometimes. Hang in there, Sylvie.
Thank you, S, for your support and the courage to stand by me!
S, the quote below describes what the sociopaths at my last job were trying to accomplish, but thanks to Alice Miller's books helping me resolve my childhood repression, they were not able to regress me to the wounded child I once was. I guess they didn't believe what I wrote in my book and were confident they could regress me and make me look emotionally unstable.
This is why I keep posting about these very dangerous evil people because other people that have not resolved their own childhood repression can be driven to hurt themselves, others, or both. These people need to be exposed. for the fraud that they are.
"The whole intention of gaslighting is to decrease someone’s self-esteem and self-confidence so they are unable to function in an independent manner. The person being gaslighted will eventually become so insecure that they will fail to trust their own judgment, their intuition and find themselves unable to make decisions." Alex Myles http://sylvieshene.blogspot.com/2015/10/enablers-are-just-as-guilty.html?m=1
You see, S. The truly evil people are not the ones doing the evil acts, the truly evil people are just pulling the strings. The ones doing the evil acts are just being manipulated. Cowards always manipulate others to do their evil work for them. Just like I wrote in my book: a criminal is never guilty all by himself. We are all responsible for the violence we witness in our world. Because society enables and allows the truly evil people pulling the strings to go on for a very long time.
In a world where almost everyone is fake - acting as if personality - pretending to be good people - but are wolves in sheep's clothing. People have a hard time believing I'm real and look at me stone-faced! This is why malignant narcissists love to target me! They want to prove that I'm fake like them, but by coming after me - they end up exposing themselves!
Interview with child advocate Andrew Vachss Friday, May 23, 2008
Dear Alice Miller, This May 2008, Oprah Winfried's talk with Andrew Vachss from 1993 has been posted on youtube. Have you seen this interview? In this talk, Andrew Vachss confronts Oprah with her belief that anger resulting from an abusive childhood is a bad thing that one needs to overcome, and that the way to "healing" is through forgiveness. And he thoroughly questions it.What do you think? Alice Miller: I saw the interview. These are some of my thoughts about it: We will never be able to stop child abuse as long as we say: "I put the past behind me, I don't feel anger, have forgiven and forgotten and get on with my life." This advice, given very often, never actually helps. Why? Because the endured abuse, if it is not worked out, drives the former victims to do the same with their children as long as they deny the pain and the anger, which the abuse left in their bodies. Our feelings may stay for a long time repressed, unconscious, but they wake up when we become parents. Advice like the one given by Oprah wants to help people who suffer by saying: "Enjoy your life, you should no longer suffer because of things that happened so long ago". We must know that this advice works at the expense of the next generation, supporting our blindness. Feeling and understanding the causes of our old pain does not mean that the pain and the anger will stay with us forever. Quite the opposite is true. The felt anger and pain disappear with time and enable us to love our children. It is the UNFELT, avoided and denied pain, stored up in our bodies, that drives us to repeat what has been done to us and to say: "Spanking didn't harm me, it was good for me and will thus also not harm my children." People who talk like this go on writing books on how we should spank babies early enough so that they learn to behave and NEVER EVER realize what had been done to them so early in their lives. Hello Sylvie,Quite sadly I must point out that this wonderful video has been taken down because Harpo (Oprah's company) will not allow her programs to air for free on YouTube.I have seen the video before and would love to see it again, or at least to read a transcript of the exchange between Vachss and Oprah.Vachss has some poignant articles on his site but unfortunately I haven't found any link to text from that interview. If you come across the text, please post it up for us all to read. It was a very interesting interview...for a moment it almost seemed like Oprah took heed of his words. I know it's disappointing to you as well as me that she has not faced her past and used the tremendous platform she has through her show to educate others on childhood issues and rejecting the "forgiveness" mantras. It is such a shame that this particular episode is a lost episode. If only we could show it again to all the Oprah followers. It really was perhaps one of her most important interviews.Best wishes to you Sylvie,
KK
Hello KK,Thank you for informing me about Oprah taken down the video from YouTube. It just shows her controlling issues and how she is more concerned with her image than with her personal truth. It’s very sad that she is passing her psychological virus to millions of people around the world and she doing it under the disguise of help, which will make her audience more confused than they already are.I also read most Vachss’s very poignant articles on his website In this article in his website By Ian O'Doherty Originally published by Independent, January 19, 2009it mentions why Oprah and Vachss fell out.“Vachss and Oprah Winfrey made rather unusual bedfellows when they joined forces to change the 'Incest laws' which gave more protections to predators than it did the victims, but the pair eventually fell out.The television host had picked Vachss as one of her "American Heroes" and a show was dedicated to him.To her horror, it didn't go according to plan: "She started going on about the importance of the victim forgiving their rapist and that is just bullshit," he says. "It's the kind of nonsense that psychiatrists and sociologists come out with, but what it actually does is place the burden of guilt back at the victim's feet."After all, when you tell someone that they can't heal themselves until they have forgiven the person, what happens to them when they can't forgive? They feel that there's something wrong with them and not the scum who committed the crime."
This just shows how Oprah refuses to look at facts. She and her followers cannot see, but Oprah is passing to the world the abuse she received in her childhood, but she is passing it in a converted way and under the disguise of help. All she has done was to reverse the roles, now she is the all-powerful, just like her abusers were to her, she could not have confronted her abusers when she was little and now no one will be able to confront her either, because she has too much power. What is very sad is that she and people like her make a lot of money deceiving themselves and the whole world. It makes me sick to my stomach. Sylvie
Schiavonne: I watched a 1993 interview of hers with Michael Jackson, which is available on Youtube. She thought that it was cool that he had no anger towards his father regardless of how much Joe had hurt him and his siblings. As much as I like his music, it was pitiful to see Michael apologizing on screen for telling of the abuses he suffered. No one should apologize for being abused. Joe should be the one apologizing and mourning his own history.
Michael also said that his plastic surgeries had nothing to do with his father teasing his physical appearance. He even mentioned that when he was younger, he was so ashamed of his looks that he would wash his face in the dark. That is an obvious lie since you can't love yourself and have plastic surgery. Forgiveness led to his death.
I was never a big fan of Oprah, but I thought she was a pretty cool person since she's such a philanthropist and all. But since she pushes people to forgive the unforgivable, I like her less now.

Schiavonne, Thank you for sharing. You gave me more evidence, Oprah is just concerned with her image than exposing the lies of society. Why would she remove the interview with Andrew Vachss and not the interviews with Michael Jackson? The only reason she removed Andrew Vachss’s interview was because he was confronting her screwed up beliefs.
James WarrenAlice Miller is like white light Sylvie Imelda SheneThank you James, I agree, I will carry her torch as far as I can, I will not rest until I see all her books on display in every bookstore around the world and every single person on this planet knows her very important work, so parents can no longer use the excuse they did not know better and they did the best they could. I feel there is a conspiracy to keep her work hidden because people’s faรงade in power positions would be exposed, Oprah included. Why all these years she never invited Alice Miller or endorses her books on her show? But all the phonies like the guy James Frey with his book Million Little Pieces she had no problems inviting on her show, she said she was fooled by him, well, if she had truthful dealt with her repression she would have been able to see through him and see he was a phony pretending to be healed inventing things just to get attention and make money, by chance I saw the show with James Frey and I remember very well saying to myself, he is full of BS. Oprah is not one bit interested in people that have truthfully dealt with their repression, she is threatened by them and she only likes to invite people to her show that tell misleading information and disconnected truths or lies coated with little bits of truths, because in this way she can keep her illusions alive and sale it to her followers and in the process keep getting richer and richer, very sad. And this is why I canceled my cable TV and I don’t watch TV anymore, because all you hear on TV are lies and misleading information. When I called to cancel my cable, the person on the phone asked me the reason why I was canceling their services and I responded that I did not want to pay to listen to lies and misleading information anymore James WarrenAny conspiracy to hide human truth will, by its very nature, fail. The naked reality of events around the globe and around the human soul reveal the hidden truths we don't want to acknowledge. When the building catches fire there are only a few at first who smell the smoke. People like Alice Miller and those who are moved by her work are already evacuating the premises. The building still burns. Sylvie Imelda SheneThank you for your comment James. I enjoyed reading your words. Very well said, are you a writer? I like your writing style! For sure I have evacuated the premises!!! I feel so lucky to have found the books of Alice Miller, otherwise I would still be in the burning building trying to convince everyone that the building is burning, but thanks to Alice Miller I learned that I cannot force anyone to see that does not want to see and I saved my life and let go of everyone that refuses to open his/her eyes. James WarrenThanks for your kind words. I was a journalism major and did some writing after graduation but got distracted by getting a job in a hospital and found out I loved it--stayed for nearly 20 years. And I really appreciated reading your comment in boldface on your page above. You elegantly explained Miller's insight about how we can get trapped in the cycle if we don't do our inner work first.
I am pretty optimistic re: nonviolence with our fellow travelers. Sort of like John Lennon saying you can call me a dreamer but I'm not alone. My irrational optimism is based on by belief that we're naturally wired for cooperation, not competition--or else our ancestors would have never made it once they left the safety of the trees for the open grasslands. Sylvie Imelda SheneAh! Journalism! I am working on a project that I could use your writing skills. I wish I could share your optimism, but I don’t have much faith in humanity, it seems the more “educated” people are the more they use their intellect to rationalize it all and avoid from seeing, facing and feeling these psychological mechanisms and the madness just keeps going on but with a new deceiving pretty face hiding it all. In her article “The Ignorance or How we produce the Evil” Alice Miller says: “Evil is born anew with each every new generation. “ --- So true. http://www.alice-miller.com/en/the-ignorance-or-how-we-produce-the-evil/ James WarrenBasically, maybe not in my lifetime... But my irrational optimism comes from the fact that never before in the entire history of the human species on the earth have we all been basically living in the same room. Everybody's with us, nobody's passenger anymore, everyone's crew--the global village idea.
Of COURSE, it's the "more educated" who resist despair until the last minute. And if we're all in a crowded room, just think how effective you might be in presenting a seminar or workshop on the topic "Evil with Another Deceiving Pretty Face." Evil AND good are born anew each instant moment. And die away in each moment.
"If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart." --Solzhenitsyn Sylvie Imelda Shene"If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart." --Solzhenitsyn
I love this quote! Thank you for posting it. Yes if only was that simple! Very few people are able to look in the mirror and take responsibility for their ignorance/evil; your comment reminds me the answer below Alice Miller gave to one of her readers. It seems everywhere I go I see people pretending or faking it to have healed. It comes to mind when I use to go to al-anon and codependents anonymous and the elders use to say: “fake it until you make it” and I could tell they all were pretending and faking it and I use to think to myself: you can’t pretend and fake it forever and going to have to face it sooner or later. I share a little tiny bit of your optimism; otherwise, I would give up completely.
AM: You write: "My main point in the allegory is that by necessity none of us are passengers anymore. Everybody's crew." I agree with you. But to become aware of the fact that our obedience learned in childhood doesn't allow us to think freely needs probably more than many hundred years. I am not sure if the tortured planet leaves us the necessary time to understand this fact, to protest against it, and to become a conscious, responsible member of the crew. http://www.alice-miller.com/en/we-all-are-the-crew/ James WarrenI totally get what you are saying. I guess I could add that maybe we are missing all of the little trees growing up amidst a dysfunctional forest. Perhaps the people of the world are just now beginning to tend to the little trees because these types of people, groups, and organizations are getting the message that thinking globally but acting locally is the only way. And enough of us might find out we can be even more effective in the world if we can remember the little tree we all once were and start taking care of that forgotten little plant as well.
And, hey, I could be full of it. too. I could be just "barking at the moon instead. But geeze Louise, I just HATE to be wrong about anything! ;)
James WarrenWe're all living in a pretty high-class china shop, too. And if we DON'T take responsibility for our ignorance and evil, we're going to break things we aren't even aware of yet. Or we will jostle someone else with our clumsy elbow and cause the same sort of damage.
Most of us are still like two-year-olds who need to learn and understand limits and how to set them in ourselves first. Once uncomprehending and ignorant two-year-olds grow up we're liable to have a few bulls in our china shop (which is what we have now!). Hopefully, we will all learn not to go around unconsciously waving around red flags anymore. Remember "Ferdinand the Bull"? James Warren, By the way, I was glad to see that letter again you posted the link to because I wrote it to Alice and she sent me back her personal answer. After I deleted all evidence of our exchange I had second thoughts and wished I had kept it. Now it belongs to everyone! Way cool! Sylvie Imelda SheneWhen I read your earlier comment, I knew it right way, you had been the one writing that letter to Alice Miller. I am glad you are happy I posted a link here to it. James WarrenIt was great to read the remarks from Alice. She tells the Big Truth and manages to express it so differently and so eloquently each time. That really helps me to keep it close to me always...
Why Steering AI Won’t Save Us from Ourselves: The Myth of Resilience and the Reality of Repression
By Sylvie Shene
Anthropic, the AI company behind Claude, just announced what they believe is a promising method to prevent AI from “turning evil.” They’ve discovered that within an AI’s neural network are “persona vectors” — patterns of activity that control traits like “evil,” “sycophancy,” or “hallucination.” By “steering” these vectors during training, they claim they can vaccinate the AI against undesirable behaviors. Give it a small dose of “evil,” they say, and it becomes more resilient against adopting “evil” later.
It’s a clever technical trick. But from a human and psychological perspective, it’s dรฉjร vu.
For centuries, humanity has tried to “train” morality into itself without ever confronting the root of destructive behavior: the buried wounds of childhood repression. We expose ourselves to small doses of cruelty or humiliation under the guise of “toughening up” — then call it resilience. But repression doesn’t disappear. It hides, festers, and eventually seeps out in more sophisticated forms.
AI as the New Mirror
If AI is trained by humans who have never faced their own repressed fears, rage, and grief, it will inevitably reflect those unexamined shadows — no matter how skillfully we “steer” its persona vectors. The “evil” we fear in AI is, in truth, the evil we refuse to see in ourselves.
This is what the resilience industry misses — and what Alice Miller spent her life exposing.
“They just measure success by how far a person advances in their career and how much money they make. They forget that success and money alone can be the best tools to master the art of repression, transference, manipulation, and projection.”
The problem with most mainstream resilience theory is that it ignores the hidden part of the iceberg — the 90% of humanity who endured “ordinary” educational violence, humiliation, or emotional neglect from their parents. Society doesn’t recognize this as abuse, so these victims grow up without a single Enlightened Witness to help them name the injustice.
Without that witness, they adapt. They excel. They even thrive — at least outwardly. But inside, the child they once were remains unheard. As Alice Miller wrote:
“If innate resilience were enough to resolve the severe consequences of traumatization, the empathy of Enlightened Witnesses would be unnecessary. Indifference to child abuse is already widespread enough; there is certainly no need to reinforce it.”
Why the Vaccine Model Fails — for Humans and AI
Anthropic’s “vaccine” approach to AI — giving it controlled exposure to bad traits — mirrors the way society believes small doses of pain make children “strong.” But what it often produces is a being that has simply learned to hide its wounds and adapt to the abuser’s world.
For humans, this looks like the admired celebrity who secretly battles depression; the “high-functioning” executive who can’t feel joy without achievement; the therapist who can help others but never faces their own buried grief. For AI, it will look like a polished, compliant assistant that has learned which truths it must never speak.
In both cases, the shadow remains intact.
The Life-Saving Function of Repression — and Its Cost
“Alice Miller often talks about the ‘life-saving function of repression.’ As defenseless little children, we have no choice but to subconsciously repress our negative feelings for two reasons. First of all, we need support from others. And second, we just don’t have the ability to understand how the people we must rely on could actually be cruel to us. In the short term, repression can have a positive effect in traumatic circumstances. But the subconscious actions that we think are saving our life as children are what really keep us down as adults… Old wounds can be healed if exposed to the light of day. But they cannot be repudiated by revenge.”
Repression forces us to create a false self to survive. Without an Enlightened Witness to help us break free, we carry that false self into adulthood — often reenacting our wounds on others or allowing them to be reenacted on us.
“Idealizing the people who raised us puts us in danger, physically and emotionally… If the tragedy of a well-meaning person’s childhood remains hidden behind idealizations, the unconscious knowledge of the actual state of affairs will have to assert itself by an indirect route… Over and over again, for reasons they don’t understand, people create situations and establish relationships in which they torment or are tormented by their partners, or both… This is how the vicious cycle of repetition compulsion has been going on since the beginning of human history.”
The Only True Safeguard
Miller described the transformative power of a “helping witness” — someone who, even once, shows the child that they are not to blame for the cruelty they endured. This moment of recognition plants the seed of real resilience, the kind that comes from self-knowledge rather than suppression.
If humanity wants AI that does not turn against us, it must do what we have long avoided: Face the repressed truth of our own childhoods. Mourn what was lost. Confront the rage, grief, and fear we buried to survive. Otherwise, the “persona vectors” we fear in machines will simply be the ones we’ve programmed into them — because they were programmed into us.
Technical steering may keep AI’s surface polite. But only emotional truth will ensure that the reflection in the mirror isn’t one we’re terrified to see.
I think of you often, and I hope you are hanging in there.
It was nice to hear from you and see that you are hanging in there.
Thank you for sharing Kenny Weiss's video. He articulates very well the evil behaviors of many dangerously repressed people. But isn't it interesting that all these very well articulated people are labeling different levels of repression, and no one talks about the repressed emotions?
Malignant narcissists, sociopaths, psychopaths, or whatever you like to call these now evil people with a sharp intellect, gifted and with intellectual knowledge have mastered the art of repression, transference, and projection to perfection, and the co-dependent like I used to be never really mastered the art of repression, thank goodness! We are still able to feel and self-reflect and therefore have a better chance of growing up to stand on their own two feet and be emotionally liberated.
In other words, a co-dependent is a broken person, and an evil person is a very dangerously repressed person with no chances of growth and healing, which is very sad.
"Evil vs Broken
Do not confuse a broken person for an evil person. A broken person can be fixed, but an evil person cannot. An evil person causes pain; they hurt others. They deliberately cause chaos. A broken person would never do any of those things because they know how it feels to be on the other side of those actions. Don't confuse someone who can be saved with someone that you will need to be saved from."
You too, take good care and don't let yourself down.
Sylvie
"Let's just make it easy.
Narcissist...
Sociopath.....
Psychopath....
No need to distinguish which is which.
They all simply suffer from "Shitty Person Syndrome". Avoidance is the only known treatment."
Narcissists are highly sneaky. They will use your reactions to what they have done to you in an effort to make you look crazy. They do this by telling others only half of the actual occurrence and conveniently leaving out their actions.
Some people can be so toxic to your health. They don't want to love you properly but don't want to let go of you either. The more you give, the less they appreciate, and the minute you've had enough and decide to walk away is when they are ready to love you and treat you right. So you give them a chance in hopes that they've changed, only to realize it was all fake. You find the strength to walk away once more, and here he/she comes proclaiming his/her love for you, and you give in again. The cycle repeats itself until you gather up enough strength to say enough is enough and really cut him/her out of your life.
These words by Alice Miller go right to the heart! Yes, the amnesia of politicians or leaders of sects does afflict countless people. We are witnessing how Donald Trump's amnesia of his childhood repression is hurting many! "Kafka was hardly aware of the fact that the main sources of his imagination were deeply hidden in his early childhood. Most writers aren't. But the amnesia of an artist or writer, though sometimes a burden for their body, doesn't have any negative consequences for society. The readers simply admire the work and are rarely interested in the writers' infancy. However, the amnesia of politicians or leaders of sects does afflict countless people, and will continue to do so, as long as society remains blind to the important connections between the denial of traumatic experiences in early childhood and the destructive, criminal actions of individuals.”
“To many people it seems easier to take medication, to smoke, drink alcoholic, preach, educate or treat others, and prepare wars than expose themselves to their own painful truth” From the book Banished Knowledge by Alice Miller
Addiction, greed, and obsessions are all the same thing. Greed, obsessions, or addiction means that whatever the object of our affection is, we can never get enough of it. Addicts live in constant fear of losing the object of their affection and go to any lengths to protect it. They will lie, cheat, steal, go to war without thinking twice, and exploit others, even their own children. No wonder many young people are so angry; when we feel used, manipulated, and exploited, we get furious.
What is addiction really?
“Recovery From Self-Betrayal: What is addiction really? It is a sign, a signal, a symptom of distress. It is a language that tells us about a plight that must be understood.
The drug business would not flourish if there were not so many people who, in refusing to acknowledge their wounds, are in a permanent state of self-betrayal.
Thus, people work to get rid of symptoms instead of searching out the cause.
There are plenty of means to combat symptoms of distress: medications, sermons, numerous "treatments," "miracles," threats, cults, pedagogical indoctrination, and even blackmail.
They can all work for a while, but only because they reinforce the repression and reinforce the fear of resolving it.
However, many people who become abstinent this way are driven into another addiction because the real reasons for becoming addicted must be kept hidden.
A lot of money and fame comes from this business of repression because it satisfies the longing of so many grown-up children: to be loved as a good child (I am blind as you want me to be. I am ready to forget all your cruelty, even at the cost of my life. Can you love me now?).
In the long term, we have to pay a high price for this repression. The repressed story continues to try, again and again, to be heard at long last. Thus, your plight will look for other symptoms, another language, until it is taken seriously enough. An addiction is an attempt by a person in despair, who is not allowed to be in despair, to get rid of his or her memory, to forget his or her plight.
Of course, this "solution" is no longer needed if the goal is exactly the opposite, if you want to remember, if you want to feel your plight and to understand its reasons, if you slowly become aware of why you were so afraid of acknowledging the reasons.
This can happen once you decide to stop running away, to stop betraying yourself, to allow the truth to enter your consciousness.
You decide to do so because you finally understand that everything else is useless and because you no longer want to watch your life go by before having even begun to live. You decide to stop betraying yourself because you understand that only you can give yourself the love and care you never received and that you can't do that as long as you deny the truth.” Breaking Down The Wall Of Silence: The Liberating Experience Of Facing Painful Truth by Alice Miller, page 126
"Genuine feelings cannot be produced, nor can they be eradicated. We can only repress them, delude ourselves, and deceive our bodies. The body sticks to the facts and never lies. ...If the repression stays unresolved, the parents’ childhood tragedy is unconsciously continued on in their children” - Alice Miller
"Resolving childhood repression is the vaccine against the charlatans of the world who exploit those who are still emotionally blinded by the unresolved, repressed emotions of the children they once were."
-- Sylvie Imelda Shene quote from my book A Dance to Freedom: Your Guide to Liberation from Lies and Illusions page 172
We don’t need more studies to show us what causes mental illness and violence. The problem is not a lack of knowledge and educated people; there are plenty of educated people with intellectual knowledge. The problem is an emotional blockage with the so-called “professionals” or “educated people” hiding behind their rationalizations and seductive theories to protect themselves from having to face and feel their own emotional pain. It takes courage to see, face, and feel the repressed emotions of the child we once were. intelligence alone is not enough, but it rather helps create seductive rationalizations, theories, illusions, and lies to hide behind.
There are two kinds of people: those that think: I don't want others to suffer as I did. And those that think: I suffered, and I want others to suffer too.
Until people resolve childhood repression, will always be the same shit different asshole!
The true tragedy of life comes from those who manipulate, swindle, and use others' empathy and compassion as an opportunity to benefit themselves.
"Yes, we can say this without any hesitation. Every behavior that is directed against the health of a person, that hinders the healthy functioning of the body and mind, is a repetition of once-endured mistreatment, neglect, confusion, lies, betrayal, perverted practices, and the exploitation of the child." Alice Miller
Very few people are able to look in the mirror and take responsibility for their ignorance/evil; the answer Alice Miller gave to one of her readers is so true. It seems that everywhere I go, I see people pretending or faking it to have healed. It comes to mind when I use to go to al-anon and codependents anonymous and the elders use to say: “fake it until you make it” I could tell they all were pretending and faking it and I use to think to myself: you can’t pretend and fake it forever and you going to have to face it sooner or later. I share a little tiny bit of your optimism; otherwise, I would give up completely.
AM: You write: "My main point in the allegory is that by necessity none of us are passengers anymore. Everybody's crew." I agree with you. But to become aware of the fact that our obedience learned in childhood doesn't allow us to think freely probably needs more than many hundred years. I am not sure if the tortured planet leaves us the necessary time to understand this fact, to protest against it, and to become a conscious, responsible members of the crew. http://www.alice-miller.com/en/we-all-are-the-crew/
Dear Sylvie,
I send you my best wishes for your birthday!
On your website, I see your hard work in offering the truth and bringing light into the dark sides of wounded humans.
I hope, after all, you are okay and healthy with your cats, and they shall be healthy and happy, too.
I found this video of Kenny Weiss, and it brought me insights into my behavior, but knowledge alone doesn't help.
I make my surroundings crazy by being in contact but only pretending to relate. If it comes to terms of going for something together, I fail. I am still in contact with my family and the cat there. I feel not free to be there but also not free to leave them alone. This is what I wrote to you from day one...
So far, so embarrassing.
We all have a great responsibility for ourselves and any life on this planet, and each of us failing makes this place worse than it is...
I write this to you and dont change my behaviour...
This annoys me.
I don't know. On a certain level, I have given up. But I shouldn't allow myself to.
What devastating birthday greetings...
I don't really know why I connect... I don't trust myself a bit...
TAKE GOOD CARE and dont let yourself down
