Real Life Villains and Spotting a Sociopath - You Can't Win

Real Life Villains and Spotting a Sociopath - You Can't Win
  1. Know your enemy: Sociopaths manipulate, lie and scheme against you. They think nothing of spending 10 hours a day on the phone, or in person, telling anyone and everyone lie after lie about you. Your reputation may be in tatters by the time they are done. According to therapist Martha Stout in The Sociopath Next Door , sociopaths have no remorse. They do not feel sorrow when they destroy your life.
  2. Don't play the game: Once a sociopath targets you, the situation turns into a game for him or her. Your attempts to "fix" the situation with rational conversation is seen as weakness by the sociopath. She will feel she is winning and will amp up her efforts, even twisting your words and using them against you.
  3. Escape the insanity: I can't stress enough that you simply cannot win with a sociopath. A sociopath will never stop attacking your reputation in the most ruthless manner possible. The ONLY way to win is to get away from the sociopath. I know this from personal experience. I had to cut off every avenue of possible contact to escape the craziness created by a person who came into my life by chance.
  4. Take a witness: If you are in a situation where you must deal with the sociopath, such as someone in your family, or a co-worker, refuse to speak with the person unless you have a third party present. This way, you have a witness and your words and actions cannot be twisted and misconstrued. The Abuse Recovery site offers additional tips for dealing with a sociopath that you might find helpful.
  5. Don't let it get to you: A sociopath will tear down your innermost confidence in yourself bit by bit until you wonder if all the conflict is your fault. Take a step back and really reflect on the situation. Take responsibility for your own faults (we all have them), and lay the blame where it belongs for the rest.

While the average person spends a good portion of the day thinking about those she loves (children, husband, parents, friends), a sociopath doesn't have these emotional ties with anyone. Instead, she will spend all that time plotting to take you down and destroy you either literally or figuratively. Even removing yourself from the sphere of the sociopath's influence may only work for a while. You must remain consistent. Do not let the sociopath fool you a second time with his or her charm. Do not believe the person has changed. Most therapists agree that sociopaths cannot be treated effectively. Instead, take steps to protect yourself and your family. Consider drastic solutions like moving, changing jobs and making new friends. Remember that it is all a game to the sociopath. She or he does not care if you're hurt. The only goal they have is winning. The only way you can beat a sociopath is to get away from a sociopath. Accept the harsh realitySociopaths do not changePerhaps you've come to the conclusion that you are dealing with a sociopath. You've read the key symptoms and they describe this person perfectly. You've read the True Lovefraud stories, and you recognize the behaviors. So what do you do now?Accept the reality that a sociopath will never change. You cannot cure him with your love. You cannot change yourself and expect him to be satisfied. You cannot make him understand how you feel and how much he hurts you. He really doesn't care. (All of this applies to female sociopaths as well as male.) To a sociopath, you are just "supply." You are a source of money, sex, housing, business connections, or whatever else he is taking from you. Even though he says, "I love you," and "I'll never do it again," the words mean nothing. His sole objective is to keep the supply coming. So what do you do? Cut your losses and get out. If you're lucky, you're not married, you don't have children together, and you don't work together. You just walk away and never see the creep again. But many situations are more complicated than that. If you have to deal with divorce or child custody, expect it to be nasty. It's not that the sociopath actually cares about you or the kids. It's just that he or she wants to win, and make your life miserable in the process.Lovefraud provides more information on what to do if you're involved with a sociopath on the other pages of this section. Lovefraud also recommends the online support groups listed below. Although the members are not professional therapists, they have all been where you are—which is much more valuable than a therapist who doesn't get it. At the very least, they will help you to realize you are not alone. (Registration is required to participate.) "Psychopaths are social predators who charm, manipulate and ruthlessly plow their way through life, leaving a broad trail of broken hearts, shattered expectations and empty wallets. Completely lacking in conscience and feelings for others, they selfishly take what they want and do as they please, violating social norms and expectations without the slightest sense of guilt or regret."* Are sociopaths insane? Here's how Dr. Robert Hare, who uses the term "psychopaths," answers the question:
"Psychopaths do meet current legal and psychiatric standards for sanity. They understand the rules of society and the conventional meanings of right and wrong. They are capable of controlling their behavior, and they are aware of the potential consequences of their acts. Their problem is that this knowledge frequently fails to deter them from antisocial behavior. "In my opinion, psychopaths certainly know enough about what they are doing to be held accountable for their actions."* Why is it so critical for you to know about sociopaths? Because millions of sociopaths are living among us. Yes, many of them are criminals, locked up in jail. But far more are on the street, hurting people without breaking laws, operating in the gray areas between legal and illegal, or simply eluding the authorities. They can appear to be normal, but they pose a tremendous threat to us all.Sociopaths exhibit a range of behaviors. In fact, Dr. Hare diagnoses them according to their score on a scale. So just as you could describe someone's intelligence as ranging from smart to genius, you could describe a sociopath as somewhere between sleazy and serial killer. If you see sleazy, he or she may be on the low end of the scale, but they're still bad news. This web site is dedicated to informing you about sociopaths so you can protect yourself. Learn to spot the behaviors that might indicate someone is a sociopath. Once they are adults, sociopathic men and women do not change. They cannot be rehabilitated. The sooner you can get away from them, the better off you'll be.To really understand, up close and personal, how these predators worm their way into your life, read Love Fraud-How marriage to a sociopath fulfilled my spiritual plan. Glib and superficial Psychopaths are often witty and articulate. They can be amusing and entertaining conversationalists, ready with a quick and clever comeback, and can tell unlikely but convincing stories that cast themselves in a good light. They can be very effective in presenting themselves well and are often very likable and charming. Typically, psychopaths attempt to appear experts in sociology, psychiatry, medicine, psychology, philosophy, poetry, literature, art or law. A signpost to this trait is often a smooth lack of concern at being found out that they are not. Egocentric and grandiose Psychopaths have a narcissistic and grossly inflated view of their self-worth and importance, a truly astounding egocentricity and sense of entitlement. They see themselves as the center of the universe, as superior beings who are justified in living according to their own rules. Psychopaths are seldom embarrassed about their legal, financial or personal problems. Rather, they see them as temporary setbacks, the results of bad luck, unfaithful friends or an unfair and incompetent system. Psychopaths feel that their abilities will enable them to become anything they want to be. Given the right circumstances—opportunity, luck, willing victims—their grandiosity can pay off spectacularly. For example, the psychopathic entrepreneur "thinks big," but it's usually with someone else's money. Lack of remorse or guilt Psychopaths show a stunning lack of concern for the devastating effects their actions have on others. Often they are completely forthright about the matter, calmly stating that they have no sense of guilt, are not sorry for the pain and destruction they have caused, and that there is no reason for them to be concerned. Psychopaths' lack of remorse or guilt is associated with a remarkable ability to rationalize their behavior and to shrug off personal responsibility for actions that cause shock and disappointment to family, friends, associates and others who have played by the rules. Usually they have handy excuses for their behavior, and in some cases they deny that it happened at all. Lack of empathy The feelings of other people are of no concern to psychopaths. Psychopaths view people as little more than objects to be used for their own gratification. The weak and the vulnerable—whom they mock, rather than pity—are favorite targets.Psychopaths display a general lack of empathy. They are indifferent to the rights and suffering of family members and strangers alike. If they do maintain ties with their spouses or children it is only because they see their family members as possessions, much like their stereos or automobiles. Because of their inability to appreciate the feelings of others, some psychopaths are capable of behavior that normal people find not only horrific but baffling. For example, they can torture and mutilate their victims with about the same sense of concern that we feel when we carve a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. However, except in movies and books, very few psychopaths commit crimes of this sort. Their callousness typically emerges in less dramatic, though still devastating, ways: parasitically bleeding other people of their possessions, savings and dignity; aggressively doing and taking what they want; shamefully neglecting the physical and emotional welfare of their families; engaging in an unending series of casual, impersonal and trivial sexual relationships; and so forth. Deceitful and manipulative Lying, deceiving and manipulation are natural talents for psychopaths. Given their glibness and the facility with which they lie, it is not surprising that psychopaths successfully cheat, bilk, defraud, con and manipulate people and have not the slightest compunction about doing so. They are often forthright in describing themselves as con men, hustlers or fraud artists. Their statements often reveal their belief that the world is made up of "givers and takers," predators and prey, and that it would be very foolish not to exploit the weaknesses of others. Some of their operations are elaborate and well thought out, whereas others are quite simple: stringing along several women at the same time, or convincing family members and friends that money is needed "to bail me out of a jam." Whatever the scheme, it is carried off in a cool, self-assured, brazen manner.

Sociopaths Hate Us

Yes, they hate us for being real, authentic and truthful. And yes, our very existence can ignite their erratic defense mechanisms. I found out that the last sociopath I worked with in Paradise Valley, got angry and walked out on the job on Friday, June 3! The truth always comes to the surface sooner or later! They got a dose of his poison! And yes, I have learned how dangerous sociopaths are -- after being targeted by a mob of sociopaths at my job of nine and half years! I will never look at another human being the same!

"That said: Do not tempt a sociopath’s rage. Sociopaths hate us. Our very existence can ignite their erratic defense mechanisms. I do not want to downplay the danger with a sociopath. Do not argue, challenge or threaten them. When you see what they are, do this: Zip it. Stay silent. Get them out. Or go yourself.
Stand up! See the sociopath for what he or she is! Reframe the entire debacle from the viewpoint of a sociopath’s mind. Use their weaknesses to leverage them out of our lives and minimize the damage."

Sociopaths Hate Us

Very true! This is exactly what the bullies, assholes, sociopaths or whatever you like to call these very toxic people are trying to do to me! But the more they come after me with their lies, the more their true colors come to the surface and the more pathetic they look.

"Once we see them for who they are – and they know we know – the sociopath drops all pretense. The sociopath behind the mask comes out to play. The monster steps out front and center. There’s nothing like looking into the eyes of infinite, bottomless inhumanity."
https://www.truelovescam.com/sociopath-behind-the-mask/
Totally! Once they knew I knew that's when they came after me viciously! And I saw pure evil!
While I understand both men and women can be the victims of smear campaigns at work, women in positions of power face an especially tough time. Having been the victim of a workplace smear campaign, by another woman to boot, I can attest that the author's summation here is spot on:
"If you've attempted to speak truth to power, to stand up for tough decisions, or even if you've reported work-place intimidation...you will most likely end up with a target on your back. Smear campaigns are often a cowardly tactic utilized to victimize women, with the ultimate goal of forcing them out of their positions -- or into silence."
I have met a lot of cowards lately! Too afraid to make a stand and they let the sociopaths get away with an attempt to destroy a person! Since being a target of a mob of sociopaths at my last job of nine and half years. I will never look at another human being in the same way! "Bystanders now possess the ultimate responsibility in standing up for our collective fight against injustice, bullying, violence, and intimidation. "IT'S ON US"...is a new campaign spreading, to suggest that bystanders should no longer look the other way. And to reiterate that proverb that we all know to be so true, "Silence is never neutral. You must always pick a side". In this case, we hope you will choose courage over fear.
Please think long and hard before you agree to look the other way when someone is victimized by violence or abuse. And instead of passing around gossip like it's candy on Halloween -- consider the source and the motive -- and choose to rise above it. Consider the role you would be playing in perpetuating a character damaging smear campaign. And realize that smear campaigns are most often the handy work of cowardly and insecure personalities. Otherwise, open dialogue and healthy confrontation, in the light of day, would replace these dark, brutal tactics."
Good comments on the Psychopath Free Facebook page.

Totally! They are so good at playing the victim role! All the sociopaths at my last job of nine and half years accuse me of doing of what themselves do! And they act like they are my victims! They are beyond pathetic!!! They went to the trouble this last Friday of sending a letter to one of my friends in the community telling him lies about me. It's kind of funny because I'm the one that picked up the letter at the gate and hand delivered it to my friend. We just laughed of how pathetic they are!!!
Yes, they do!
Yep!

The pity play

Tip-off trait of a sociopath
Look for the pity play

Is there any mannerism, any type of behavior, any use of language, that can identify a sociopath?
According to Martha Stout, Ph.D., author of The Sociopath Next Door*, the best clue that you are dealing with a sociopath is the pity play.
“The most reliable sign, the most universal behavior of unscrupulous people is not directed, as one might imagine, at our fearfulness,” Stout says. “It is, perversely, an appeal to our sympathy.”
The combination of consistently bad or inadequate behavior and frequent pity plays, Stout continues, is the closest thing to a warning you’ll ever get that you are being manipulated by a sociopath.

Sociopath manipulation techniques

In her book, Stout also describes other techniques that a shameless sociopath will use to keep the rest of us in line. They are:
  1. Charm
  2. Risk-taking, and convincing others to do it with them
  3. Recognizing a person who is decent and trusting—the perfect target
  4. Sexual seduction
  5. Crocodile tears—especially when sociopaths are about to be confronted
  6. Righteous indignation—Plan B when sociopaths are about to be confronted
  7. Exploiting social and professional roles
  8. Gaslighting—making victims doubt their own perceptions
The term “gaslighting” comes from a 1944 movie called Gaslight, in which gold-digging husband marries a rich, innocent woman and tries to make her feel like she is going insane. Sociopaths are experts at it.

For a sociopath, winning is all

A sociopath has no conscience, no emotional attachment to others, and no ability to love. For a sociopath, Stout says, “life is reduced to a contest, and other human beings seem to be nothing more than game pieces, to be moved about, used as shields or ejected.”
So what does a sociopath want? According to Stout, a sociopath wants only to win.

Now looking back I have been singled out since my childhood by sociopaths or people that have masted the art of repression and transference to perfection and the moment they discover I see through their chirpy facade I become their target to destroy. I remember my first-grade teacher hating me because she knew I could see through her and she always put on in front of parents and others outside the classroom. I didn't mean to let her know that I saw through her chirpy facade, but I realize now looking back that I did and she hated me for being a seeing child and bullied me and humiliated me in front of the class to an extreme.

Groups dynamics don't change much from grade school all the way to adulthood. Most people remain stuck in childhood without realizing it. And this is why I don't join groups because as seeing and compassionate person I tend to be overlooked or attacked and ostracized by the sociopath in the group aided by all the emotionally blind people.

The psychology of narcissism:

Great video!  It does help me see the difference between a narcissist and a sociopath!

I have a tendency to put them all in the category of sociopaths. I guess it's really not fair to call a narcissist a sociopath.  This video states what's a narcissist is. A sociopath and a psychopath are much more dangerous!

Emotional Abuse and Sociopaths

In the beginning, a sociopath can gauge what matters to us. They fulfill that. As the weeks go by, they discern what we won’t tolerate or forgive, what will keep us trusting, even when they become neglectful or mean. They innately know the little tricks and which treatment will bend us to their will most effectively.
We’ve been kidnapped without realizing it. We’re not with a normal person, sociopaths have abnormal brains. As a sociopath goes about their day in the world they present a false self, even the barista or car wash attendant aren’t seeing a real person. The sociopath is constantly putting on a fake-front We try to keep things harmonious – humans need harmony within their lives and relationships. If both people were normal, both people would contribute to harmony within the relationship… this is not the case with a sociopath.  Read more HERE
"In professional environments, they want you to blow up so that coworkers and superiors see you as unstable. In romantic settings, they want you to lash out so that they can use your “hysterical” reactions to show potential partners and exes how crazy you’ve become. Until we understand this, we’ll continue to fall into their trap." Read more HERE

1. Emotional manipulator

Playing on sympathy is a favorite weapon of choice for psychopaths.
While they are confident, outgoing and mentally resilient and rarely feel sorry for themselves, they are master manipulators are extremely proficient at eliciting pity and compassion.
Poor performers with psychopathic tendencies may frequently appeal to extenuating circumstances and pleas for support and understanding in order to shift the focus from their own behavior.

2. Control freak

If you feel like you are being micro-managed, you probably are!

Moving people around, making them jump for the sake of it, unnecessary rearrangements of workspaces, the sudden imposition of unsocial working hours, monitoring toilet breaks, the promise of favors in return for ratting out your colleagues are just a few psychopathic favorites.

3. Charming

Psychopaths are past masters at making brilliant first impressions and charming your socks off.  They know only too well the value of turning on the charm early in a relationship and then slowly turning it off to make you start doubting yourself and feeling less worthy.
If you have been swept off your feet and made to feel like you are the only person in the room, if you have felt that someone is speaking just to you, only to be left feeling confused and insecure afterward, then you may have been faced to face with a corporate Psychopath!

4. Bloodsucker

Psychopaths are corporate vampires who take you into their confidence only to suck out all the valuable new ideas that may have been weeks and months in the planning.
A typical approach is to use reciprocity, a potent influencing tool.  A Psychopath might ‘confide’ in you about some ordinary idea of his/her own in the hope you then offer one of your own that is better.
Before you know it, your idea has become theirs” and they are getting the credit for it.

5. Liar Liar

If your relationship with your boss has been plagued by ‘false starts’, ‘misunderstandings’ and ‘wrong assumptions’ then you may have a Psychopath on your hands.
A tendency to misrepresent the facts while appearing plausible and reasonable, along with a lack of guilt or anxiety over telling lies is another hallmark of psychopathic behavior.

But they are hard to spot because the lies often contain just enough truth that a spurious cover story can be concocted if they are scrutinized too closely. Read more HERE

An Educated Empath Is a Sociopath’s Worst Nightmare

Yes. I'm the sociopath's worse nightmare! I agree with almost everything the author of this article wrote. But I don't agree that some psychopaths, sociopaths, malignant narcissists, assholes, or whatever you like to call these evil people -- that they use their psychopath traits --- to help people -- these malignant people make sure all the good acts they do are in the public eye -- to cultivate a good image and gain power over others -- so if anyone dares to expose their true nature -- no one will believe them because they do so much "good"! Like I always say most "helpers" are helping themselves! When there are no witnesses they enjoy hurting others -- they are sadists -- they don't care about anyone else but themselves. They only want good things for themselves! Hurting and destroying others' lives is their painkilling drug. It's an addiction that keeps their own childhood repression intact. Just like I wrote in my book A Dance to Freedom page 118: "... as long our pain remains repressed we will unconsciously and compulsively do to others what was once done to us."

Some people would push you off of a ledge just to catch you and say they saved your life.

"I want to debunk the misconception that sociopaths and narcissists are smarter than empaths. To many people’s surprise, empaths are absolutely intellectually superior to sociopaths and narcissists. Empaths are grounded in reality, capable of abstract thought, and they are creative.
Narcissists and sociopaths lack all three of these traits. Empaths have the intellect and the creativity to manipulate and even exploit the narcissist 1000 times worse than they could ever imagine. Just because targets don’t exploit does not mean they can’t, or that they couldn’t, do an even better job than the sociopath.
Empaths don’t exploit narcissists or sociopaths because we have morals and values. And moreover, empaths are not in the business of hurting people.
I certainly don’t want targets to abuse their abuser, but I do want to encourage targets to start engaging in self-protection by utilizing their creativity to come up with nonviolent strategies to counter-manipulate narcissists into staying away from them. Counter-manipulation is used by targets to STOP the abuser from manipulating them. This is not something to feel guilty about, but it is, in fact, a very healthy behavior called self-care.
If you are a target, please remember, you are smarter than the narcissist, because you are grounded in reality, and that in itself is a huge intellectual advantage.

I personally pity the fool who tries to mess with an enlightened empath full of self-knowledge!" Read more HERE

Hoovering a Technique of Emotional Abuse

Unresolved childhood traumas combined with present traumatic experiences are a recipe for tragedy. This is the root cause of most of the tragedies we witness in our world.

Good people are A MAGNET TO THE NARCISSIST. If you are a sensitive, kind individual, especially one possessing a high ability for empathy, NARCISSTISTS WILL BE CIRCLING. Be aware of it. Learn to see the red flags. THEY'RE ALWAYS THERE.

MALIGNANT NARCISSISTS DON'T CHOOSE LOSERS. THEY CHOOSE YOU BECAUSE THEY WANT THE QUALITIES THAT YOU HAVE, THE ONES THEY ARE LACKING, THAT THEY WILL NEVER HAVE

Keep Their Façade Intact

Narcissists often have a carefully constructed persona they present to the world. Hoovering is a way for the narcissist to prevent you from sharing their experiences with others and exposing their true nature.

Additionally, they might use hoovering tactics on your friends and family [or coworkers] to maintain a façade. Other people will have a hard time believing your accounts of their abusive and manipulative behavior because they “seem so nice” and “wouldn’t hurt a fly.”

Narcissists are not what they pretend to be. They are what they hide.

Please don't make the fatal mistake of believing you can "fix" a malignant narcissist by loving them more, by not doing what triggers them off.....they don't want to be fixed because they like what they are. They want to destroy you, feed off you, deplete you, and exhaust you!

If you're lucky enough to get away and leave a narcissist, you will probably find they act as though you've caused them severe injury. In their delusional head, they will be thinking, how dare you leave me, when I'm not done controlling, using, or abusing you. And because their ego will be damaged by the loss of their supply, be prepared to be slandered by lies and stories about you. They will share these fabricated stories and lies, to anyone who will listen, so they can be sure that they look like the victim. Don't let them get to you, hold your head up high and remember it doesn't matter what other people believe, because you were there, living the nightmare, so you know the truth.

The truth is, narcissistic parents don't have children because they want to nurture and guide their offspring through life; they have children so that they have an automatic, built-in relationship in which they have power, one in which the narcissist can write the rules without any checks and balances.

YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT SOME PEOPLE NEVER REALLY GROW. THEY NEVER LEARN THEIR LESSON. THEY NEVER RECOGNIZE THEIR MISTAKES. THEY NEVER ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR FAULTS. THEY NEVER ADMIT THEY WERE IN THE WRONG. YOU WILL NEVER RECEIVE AN APOLOGY FROM THEM, AND YOU WILL NEVER SEE THEIR BEHAVIOR CHANGE.

10 THINGS THAT DRIVE A NARCISSIST CRAZY!

• Not getting enough narcissistic supply

• People not believing they are an authority

• Your happiness

• Being ignored

• Having boundaries and limits imposed on them

• Being questioned

• Your successes

When you refuse to be taken in by their charm/love bombing

• When you let go, rebuild your life, and begin to THRIVE

Some signs of hoovering include:
  • Manipulation: The narcissist manipulates the victim back into the relationship against their will
  • Twisting the conversation: The narcissist twists the conversation
  • Declaration of love: The narcissist declares love
  • Repentance: The narcissist apologizes, but the apology is qualifiers that show the narcissist still holds the victim responsible for their behavior
  • Threatening to harm themselves: The narcissist threatens to harm themselves
  • Using others: The narcissist tries to get other people to reach out to the victim on their behalf
  • Excessive gifts: The narcissist sends the victim lavish or expensive gifts
  • Overpromising: The narcissist promises to take the victim on an exotic vacation, buy their dream house, or even marry them
  • False crises: The narcissist makes up some crisis or emergency, such as a health scare
Hoovering can cause the victim to lose confidence and start to question their self-worth. Eventually, the victim may recognize how toxic the relationship is and want out. This is the stage where hoovering typically comes in.

Here are some tips for overcoming hoovering:

If you mention their past behavior, let the gaslighting begin
Test the narcissist by expressing your valid reservations
Watch how quickly the narcissist turns on you

Hoovering is a manipulation tactic used to “suck” victims back into toxic relationship cycles.
Someone who hoovers fears that their target will “get away” from them, so they may engage in love bombing, feigning crises, stalking, or smear campaigns in order to suck up all their target's time, energy, and attention.

"One of the most difficult things about being abused by a Malignant Narcissist is coming to terms with the fact that the person never really loved you or even cared about you at all.

Even though this is difficult, it is something you must face courageously, as thinking that they have real feelings will only lead you into a trap.

It is only when you face the truth that you can get out of the trap, no matter how hard the truth is to accept. When you're in love with a Malignant Narcissist, you are not in love with a real person; you're in love with the illusion that the Narcissist created for you.

The Narcissist puts on a front and acts like everything you want and need them to be until-
SURPRISE!!!
The Narcissist gets you where he or she wants you, then changes into a completely different person... cold, dismissive, hateful, mean, deceitful and unlovings It is quite shocking. It knocks you off balance. This is precisely what the Narcissist wants.
Jenna Ryan (Self Love U)

 What does Hoovering Look Like?

Hoovering is similar to love bombing in that the person hoovering is attempting to exploit their victim’s vulnerabilities.

Narcissists are often skilled at knowing exactly what a person wants; they will aim to make their target feel special, loved, and valued to lure them back into the relationship or to re-establish control."

Unlike love-bombing, which tends to occur at the beginning of a relationship, hoovering happens after the devaluation or discard phase.

It is the narcissist’s way of getting back the attention, admiration, and control they feel they are losing. It typically occurs after the victim has attempted to distance themselves or end the relationship.

TIPS FOR DEALING WITH A NARCISSIST

Don't argue with them.

Don't engage with them.

Don't defend yourself.

Be indifferent.

Be grounded.

Be emotionless.

The smarter you become about narcissistic abuse, the crazier the narcissist will say you are.

The narcissist believes they are the authority that determines reality.

To them, your facts are meaningless, and your logic offensive.

Sometimes people try to destroy you, precisely because they recognize your power - not because they don't see it, but because they see it and they don't want it to exist.

Narcissistic Individuals Buy Into Their own Masks

Covert narcissists for example think they are really good people. They buy into their "humble demeanor" There is a delusional aspect to narcissism, there has to be for them to believe they are perfect or superior. They rationalize all the bad things they do. They find a way to blame you, or make it your fault, or believe you deserve it. That is how they could live with themselves. Especially covert narcissists, they can't imagine being looked at as anything other than wonderful people. -Maria Consiglio

A number one way narcissists control you is they teach you to doubt yourself. They gaslight you and literally trick you into thinking what you saw you didn't see, what you heard never happened, and what you're experiencing is an illusion, and not real. They do this so much that after a while you really start to doubt yourself. That is why your whole relationship feels like a perpetual state of confusion. That is exactly where they want you. They can't control a person who is strong in their conviction, so they keep you doubting yourself. It is a horrible and cruel way to not only control a person but to keep a person perpetually off balance and in a weakened state of mind.

A kind person will sense your fears and soothe them. A cruel person will target your fears and FEED them. Rose Gardner

Narcissists are not what they pretend to be. They are what they hide.

Dark Truth:
Emotion for a narcissist equates to fuel. They want to hear you getting irritated. They want to get you annoyed. They want your voice to rise and see the tears of frustration welling your eyes. When they see this, it makes them feel so powerful.

THEY ARE PREDATORS
They seek out compassionate, trusting good-hearted human beings, and then mimic those qualities. Like parasites, they are their strongest when they have a healthy host. And then slowly, they use their victim's love to destroy them from the inside out. But unlike parasites, they don't do this for survival. They do it for fun/entertainment in order to temporarily alleviate the twisted state of living in contempt, envy, and boredom.

The high narcissists get from hurting an innocent child is a hell of a lot more intense than the one they would get from targeting a world-weary adult. This is why narcissists stalk their own children; that and easy access. Malignant narcissistic parents also stalk their children's souls in order to be human extensions-to live vicariously through them. Either way; the malignant narcissist parent gains in the transaction of the child's soul. They drain the child (kill life in the child), and leave them hollow (without a self) so that they can fill the child with themselves: be it as a dumping ground for their own toxic waste; or a vessel to live their narcissistic fantasy through.

Narcissist v. Sociopath

A Narcissist sees others as a means to validate his existence. The less validating you are, the less use you are to a Narcissist.

A Sociopath views others as entertainment. The less entertaining you are, the less use you are to a Sociopath.

Both the Narcissist and the Sociopath need to dominate and control others. They will both exploit you with no remorse and have no conscience. My advice? Do not validate the Narcissist and do not entertain the Sociopath. Stay clear of them. Once they suck you in, it is hard to get away. Avoid them both at all costs and if they manage to bring you into their den, run like hell. Lisa E. Scott

What is Stonewalling?

• Dismissing your concerns or refusing to discuss an issue

• Dismissing your ideas and perspectives like they are invalid, stupid, unreasonable or boring

• Avoiding discussing or problem solving issues

• Busying themselves while you're trying to talk to them

• Avoiding eye contact, staring past you, or at their phone, watch or TV

• Acts as if you're unimportant and have nothing of value to say

• Ignoring you when you speak

• Eye rolling

Fortunately, some are born with spiritual immune systems that sooner or later give rejection to the illusory worldview grafted upon them from birth through social conditioning. They begin sensing that something is amiss, and start looking for answers. Inner knowledge and anomalous outer experiences show them a side of reality others are oblivious to, and so begins their journey of awakening. Each step of the journey is made by following the heart instead of following the crowd and by choosing knowledge over the veils of ignorance.
Henri Bergson
Depression is caused by the repressed emotions of the child you once were. And all addiction is a form of escapism... find the courage to face and resolve your childhood repression and you know true freedom that cannot be bought with money and cannot ever be stolen.
Evil vs Broken
Do not confuse a broken person for an evil person. A broken person can be fixed an evil person cannot. An evil person causes pain, they hurt others. They deliberately cause chaos. A broken person would never do any of those things because they know how it feels to be on the other side of those actions. Don't confuse someone who can be saved with someone that you will need to be saved from.
Empaths be like:
I don't just listen to your words. I listen to your use of words, your tone, your body movements, your eyes, your subtle facial expressions. I interpret your silences - I can hear everything you don't say in words. Unknown
Does the narcissist's description of YOU actually make a good description of the narcissist?
Welcome to the wonderful world of PROJECTION.
When conflict arises, we are able to let it go and move on. Narcissists must get revenge.
We trust in the good of all people. Narcissists believe everyone is just like them.
We like to help people feel good about themselves and feel relief when a conflict has been resolved. Narcissists like to fight.
We take responsibility when we've made a mistake. Narcissists blame everyone else. We enjoy being compassionate. Narcissists enjoy being manipulative.
Handle every situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or play with it, just pee on it and walk away. :-)
Accept that the narcissist is what
he/she is. Narcissists are totally incapable
of love and deep connection. Nothing
you did or didn't do would have changed
the outcome. You were not loved for YOU as a person. You were viewed as an object and loved for your utility, not for your individuality. You were used for the perks you were able to provide. You were their human helium tank that maintained their inflated view of themselves. I know it sounds harsh, and it's a very painful realization to accept. But the acceptance of this fact is also the very thing that will accelerate your healing and set you free
"You are wasting your time if you are trying to reason with a narcissist. They will twist everything you say. They are not trying to understand you. They are trying to keep power over you."- Maria Consiglio

THE NEW TARGET ISN'T THE LOVE OF THEIR LIFE. THEY ARE THE NEW SUPPLY. A NARCISSIST DOESN'T LOVE ANYONE. NOT YOU. NOT THE NEXT PERSON. NOT THE ONE BEFORE

A Narcissist can't allow others to see who AND what they really are - an empty dark, angry, repulsive, dangerous person who loathes life and people, as well as lacking ALL empathy, and morals, and is abusive. So, the Narcissist creates a highly likable, moral, good, and normal MASK/image that will procure them adulation, affirmation, and attention. Everything the Narcissist requires to survive and walk among the 'real' or 'normal' people. WHY, because they need the basic things that only 'functioning' human beings can provide BUT they can't, so they morph into one of us so they can 'harvest' what they need from people.

IDENTIFYING TOXIC PEOPLE
They are controlling. They have to have everything their way. And the only agenda they care about is their own. They don't take, "no" for an answer, unless they are manipulating you, or it will ultimately suit their purpose.

They are never wrong!- Even with evidence to the contrary, they will never admit to being wrong. And don't expect an apology from them. Their enormous ego would never even entertain that possibility.

They are draining. You feel depleted every time you are in their presence. Extremely selfish people are like vampires, they suck the life force right out of you.

They are deceptive- They sometimes come in the guise of being helpful and caring. They may even be helpful. But don't be fooled it always comes at a cost. Or they get some narcissistic pleasure from it. They love having their egos stoked, and being told, what great people they are. Meanwhile, if you do one thing they don't like they will bury you in an instant, without even a second thought.

They are liars They are the most deceptive people you will ever meet. Everything they do, everything they are is set up to deceive and fulfill their purpose.

"They are delusional They really believe their own lies. They even think they are great people. They have this innate ability to fool everyone including themselves." Maria Consiglio

Pay attention when people react with anger and hostility to your boundaries. You have found the edge where their respect for you ends.

"Stop trying every which way to let a Narcissist know how you feel. The truth is they don't care how you feel. They are not interested in your feelings or how something affected you. They are only interested in getting their own feelings validated and getting their own needs met. Stop thinking they don't understand, they understand. They are just not interested. Your needs are not even a thought in their mind. A Narcissist's mind is not wired the same way. Their initial reaction is always me first, then me again and again." -Maria Consiglio

Malignant narcissism is a runaway freight train ride from childhood on, a vicious cycle of bad behavior that soon passes a point of no return - when you do something so evil that you'll never be able to get real and face your true self in a mirror. The things you do to trample others ("glorify" yourself) this way are abhorrent. People would abhor you if they knew. Indeed, you would abhor yourself if you faced facts about what you have become. So, don't expect an adult narcissist to change. It ain't gonna happen.

FUNNY HOW THE PEOPLE WHO DESPERATELY WANT TO CHANGE YOU ARE THE LEAST LIKELY TO CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT THEMSELVES.

A NARCISSIST WILL NEVER BE WILLING TO CHANGE. THEY BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE PERFECT AND THAT IT'S THE WORLD AROUND THEM THAT MUST CATER TO THEM.

VULTURES
Beware of opportunistic people who suddenly appear when your life is falling apart. Disguised as good samaritans, they eagerly offer advice and assistance. In reality, they are there to pick the meat off your bones.

"The further society moves away from the truth, the more it hates those who reveal it." George Orwell

SOCIETY HAS BECOME SO FAKE THAT THE TRUTH ACTUALLY BOTHERS PEOPLE.

"THE TRUTH ABOUT OUR CHILDHOOD IS STORED UP IN OUR BODY, AND ALTHOUGH WE CAN REPRESS IT, WE CAN NEVER ALTER IT. OUR INTELLECT CAN BE DECEIVED, OUR FEELINGS MANIPULATED, AND CONCEPTIONS CONFUSED, AND OUR BODY TRICKED WITH MEDICATION. BUT SOMEDAY OUR BODY WILL PRESENT ITS BILL, FOR IT IS AS INCORRUPTIBLE AS A CHILD, WHO, STILL WHOLE IN SPIRIT, WILL ACCEPT NO COMPROMISES OR EXCUSES, AND IT WILL NOT STOP TORMENTING US UNTIL WE STOP EVADING THE TRUTH!" - ALICE MILLER

If we do not work on all three levels body, feeling, mind -- the symptoms of our distress will keep returning, as the body goes on repeating the story stored in its cells until it is finally listened to and understood. -- Alice Miller

Emotional access to the truth is the indispensable precondition of healing. Alice Miller

We don't yet know, above all, what the world might be like if children were to grow up without being subjected to humiliation if parents would respect them and take them seriously as people. Alice Miller

Want to meet someone who has seen evil in human form and actually became stronger through the experience? Want to talk to someone who has wisdom beyond their years? Want to see what inner resiliency looks like in a person? Spend some time with a survivor of narcissistic, sociopathic, and psychopathic abuse. They are some of the most sparkly gems I have ever known. Shannon Thomas
