Watching the recent footage of veteran journalist Scott Pelley felt like looking into a mirror. The look on his face, the weight of his words—it brought me right back to 2014 and 2015. I knew that exact feeling of isolation, shock, and profound betrayal. It is the precise reality you face when you become the target of malignant narcissists simply for standing in your truth.
In 2014, after nine and a half years of loyal, dedicated service at my security post, I published my first book, A Dance to Freedom. In it, I shared my raw life experiences and the psychological discoveries I had made. Instead of being valued for my honesty, I was targeted. The corporate structure and the property management client joined forces to wage psychological warfare against me. I was fired without cause. It was a harsh, definitive lesson: your hard work, your loyalty, and your honesty mean absolutely nothing to institutional machines run by cowards.
At the time, in July 2015, I wrote a post titled They Are Criminals. I was reeling from the perfect hypocrisy of it all. As I shared back then:
"These people have no integrity but preach integrity to others. I have worked with perfect hypocrisy for the last nine and a half years, just like when I was a little girl! Securitas, the company that employed me, has core values: Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness. If they could live by their core values and set an example rather than preach to those below them, they would have much greater success. They had no problem throwing me and their core values under the bus... we live in a very sad world."
I knew then that the property manager and the corrupt board members saw me as a liability. They had to get rid of me because I possessed authentic integrity. A truly honest person is a walking threat to a corrupt system; our very presence triggers their deepest fear of being exposed. But in their desperate attempt to destroy me, they ultimately exposed themselves. What they did to me wasn't just corporate maneuvering—it was criminal.
Even back then, residents saw through the farce. I received letters from people who lived there, validation from souls who recognized the unholy alliance between the property manager and the board of directors. They wrote to me, acknowledging that these corporate figures possessed no real values beyond pure, unadulterated self-interest. They watched as the board spiraled out of control, acting in ways that bordered on criminal, while local authorities looked the other way.
But the psychological universe has a way of balancing its books, often with terrifying consequences.
Exactly one year after my corporate execution, the psychological warfare claimed its ultimate collateral damage. The property manager had recruited my ex-boss to do her dirty work—to trap me, harass me, and break my spirit. He chose to be her puppet. But puppets never have a happy ending. Unable to bear the weight of the darkness he had aligned himself with, he completely lost his mind. On March 11, 2016—by a staggering twist of fate, my exact birthday—he robbed a bank and killed himself during a tense standoff with local police.
The property manager has blood on her hands. If she had not initiated that malicious campaign of psychological terrorism against me, that man would still be alive today. He was completely destroyed by the very machinery he agreed to help operate. When people start wars, someone always gets hurt or killed.
I was the target meant to be destroyed, but when her helper self-destructed so publicly, a deafening silence fell over everyone involved. Suddenly, it became a massive cover-up. Today, that silence involves the FBI, the US Marshals, and the mainstream media. It is a shameful double standard. If I—a lone woman standing up for her rights—had broken the law, my name and face would have been splashed across every news station in the country. They would have paraded psychologists on television to talk about how "disturbed" I was, all to discredit me, ruin my book, and advance their own careers by standing on my head.
My ex-boss was a Mormon, a professed man of God. They always want to lecture you about needing religion in your life, yet he was the one who succumbed to the darkness. I saw their dirty games, their traps, and their setups clearly, and by the grace of my own awareness, I refused to walk into them. He was not strong enough to stand up for what was right. He chose to be a tool for a narcissist, and he paid the ultimate price for it.
The property manager and the board members tried desperately to make me pay the price for the unaddressed crimes of their own pasts. They acted out of pure cowardice. They are the living embodiment of the profound truths uncovered by psychoanalyst Alice Miller in her essay Deception Kills Love:
"Am I saying that forgiveness for crimes done to a child is not only ineffective but actively harmful? Yes, that is precisely what I am saying. The body does not understand moral precepts. It fights against the denial of genuine emotions and for the admission of the truth to our con
scious minds. This is something the child cannot afford to do; it has to deceive itself and turn a blind eye to the parents’ crimes in order to survive. Adults no longer need to do t his, but if they do, the price they pay is high. Either they ruin their own health, or they make others pay the price – their children, their patients , the people who work for them, etc."
Most people’s love, most corporate "core values," and most public displays of morality are nothing but a farce, a sham, and a fragile facade. When adults refuse to do their emotional work, they become monsters who project their inner rot onto the innocent people who work for them.
They tried to bury the truth, and they tried to bury me. But just like Scott Pelley, and just like everyone else who chooses the light over institutional darkness, I survived their warfare. The cover-up may be vast, but the truth remains completely unshakable.
