I don't have formal education either and I do agree with Eliezer Yudkowsky. Humanity is insane and with the aid of technology is going to destroy itself much faster. 

The biggest threat to humanity --  is people's repressed emotions of the child they once were -- and as long as people's repressed emotions are unresolved, they will be blinded by them and driven by them into the state of compulsion repetition to hurt and exploit others the same way they were hurt and exploited as defenseless little children. If people were not emotionally blind, they would be able to see the lies, illusions, and all the traps society constantly puts in front of them. And yes, an emotionally blind humanity with the aid of technology will destroy itself much faster.  

the conversation about the effects of childhood repression in our society needs to start happening in the stage of the world, sooner rather than later, if we want to save ourselves and humanity from falling off the cliff and committing mass suicide.

Education alone is just another illusion. Resolving childhood repression is the only long-term solution for people to stop following blindly political leaders. And that is a lot more difficult!

As long people's childhood repression goes unresolved -- they will be shackled into the chains of compulsion  repetition -- and it doesn't matter how well anyone articulates very nice ideas... The problem is not lack of knowledge and educated people, there are plenty of educated people with intellectual knowledge, the problem is an emotional blockage with the so-called “professionals” or “educated people” hiding behind their rationalizations and seductive theories to protect themselves from having to face and feel their own emotional pain.  It takes courage to see, face, and feel our painful truths, intelligence alone is not enough; but it rather helps create seductive, rationalizations, theories, illusions, and lies. 

Alice Miller explains beautifully in her book For Your Own Good: hidden cruelty in child-rearing and the Roots of Violence page 42 and 43: "Just as in the symbiosis of the "diaper stage," there is no separation here of subject and object. If the child learns to view corporal punishment as "a necessary measure" against "wrongdoers," then as an adult he will attempt to protect himself from punishment by being obedient and will not hesitate to cooperate with the penal system. In a totalitarian state, which is a mirror of his upbringing, this citizen can also carry out any form of torture or persecution without having a guilty conscience. His "will" is completely identical with that of the government.

Now that we have seen how easy it is for intellectuals in a dictatorship to be corrupted, it would be a vestige of aristocratic snobbery to think that only "the uneducated masses" are susceptible to propaganda. Both Hitler and Stalin had a surprisingly large number of enthusiastic followers among intellectuals. Indeed, intelligence is capable of innumerable rationalizations when it comes to the matter of adaptation. Educators have always known this and have exploited it for their own purposes, as the following proverb suggests: "The clever person gives in, the stupid one balks." Having special talents is wonderful and it’s okay to cash in your talents for a living, but when people hide behind their talents, fame, and money to hide their own personal truth and keep themselves and others distracted from the truth and facts -- then you are misusing your talents -- and contributing for the lies to spread and silently or covertly you are part of all the violence and atrocities we are witnessing in our world. So if people think they are better than others, because they have special talents, they are being delusional.

The Illusion of Intellect: Why Brilliant Minds are Leading Us to the Brink

The most dangerous thing on Earth is an emotionally blind genius armed with a keyboard and a trillion dollars.

We live in a culture that worships formal education, sharp talent, vast wealth, and global fame as the ultimate markers of human advancement. We treat tech titans, AI developers, and billionaires as the modern saviors of our species. But more often than not, these external achievements do nothing but reinforce the thick concrete walls of people’s emotional prisons.

As Alice Miller profoundly warned in The Truth Will Set You Free:

“Our capacity to resist has nothing to do with our intelligence but with the degree of access to our true self… Intelligence is capable of innumerable rationalizations when it comes to the matter of adaptation.”

The crisis facing humanity is not a lack of knowledge. The world is overflowing with highly educated "professionals" and brilliant minds. The crisis is a profound, systemic emotional blockage. When a sharp intellect is decoupled from the true self, it becomes a factory for seductive rationalizations, complex illusions, and grand diversions—all designed to protect the individual from having to face and feel their own repressed childhood pain.

And today, with the aid of technology, these emotionally blind geniuses are driving humanity toward self-destruction at the speed of light.

The Boy Who Built a Spaceship Instead of Feeling His Pain

Consider the grandest narratives of our time: tech billionaires pouring fortunes into building underground luxury bunkers or engineering rockets to colonize Mars.

To the emotionally blind, escaping to Mars looks like the pinnacle of human ambition and innovation. But strip away the corporate PR and the sci-fi glamour, and you find a much simpler, heartbreaking psychological reality: it is a childhood fantasy blown up to cosmic proportions.

It is the archetype of the boy who builds a spaceship in his backyard because his home life is too terrifying to endure.

When a child is abused, humiliated, or made to feel utterly powerless by those who are supposed to protect them, they experience a literal, psychological "end of the world." If they find no enlightened witness to help them process that terror, the pain is deeply repressed. But trauma never truly disappears; it becomes a compulsive repetition.

Tragically, all the money, fame, and power in the world cannot save someone from these irrational, unexamined fears. The mind trained to function as an alienated, intellectual self can spin magnificent theories, generate billions of dollars, and build artificial superintelligences. It can pretend everything is fine. But the human body keeps a meticulous ledger.

In The Body Never Lies, Alice Miller noted that our inability to face childhood suffering often masquerades as philosophy, literature, or corporate ambition:

“But ultimately the body will rebel. Even if it can be temporarily pacified with the help of drugs, nicotine, or medicine, it usually has the last word, because it is quicker to see through self-deception than the mind... We may ignore or deride the messages of the body, but its rebellion demands to be heeded because its language is the authentic expression of our true selves.”

 We are watching a global elite try to pacify their internal panic by dominating the external world. They want to control humanity, control data, and control the future because they were once completely unable to control the environment of their own early lives.

The Only True Path to Freedom

As long as childhood repression remains unresolved, humanity will remain shackled to the chains of compulsion repetition. It doesn't matter how beautifully a professional articulates a new theory, or how advanced our AI models become. If the architects of our future are emotionally blind, the tools they build will inevitably inherit and amplify that blindness.

Our world doesn’t need more self-proclaimed geniuses or billionaire saviors. What the world needs most is people with the raw, uncommon courage to open their eyes and feel the reality of their own personal histories.

When I was a little girl, trapped in the darkness of my own early environment, I whispered a quiet promise to myself through the pain: “The pain ends with me.”

And it has. True freedom isn't found in a university degree, a bank account, or a corporate empire. True freedom is the emotional sovereignty that comes from facing your history, breaking the trauma loop, and choosing to live authentically in the present.

Today, I choose to step away from the chaotic currents of the human ocean. I choose to be a little selfish with my time—to savor every sunrise, to listen to the quiet purr of my cats by my side, and to completely enjoy the peace I fought so hard to reclaim.

We cannot force the world to wake up from its delusions, and we cannot stop the high priests of technology from sprinting toward the edge. But we can leave a map behind. Whatever happens tomorrow, the truth remains recorded. For those brave enough to look into the mirror and face what our leaders are running from, the path to liberation is already waiting.

Yes, you told me about your parents a little bit before, but not as detailed as this time. I am so sorry you had a mother so obsessive with cleanness, every obsession is a flight to escape from having to face and feel the fears of the repressed child we once were.  I am glad you were able to find understanding for yourself and your parents and connect with them as an autonomous adult, and you able to let them know how you felt as a child before they passed.

I am a little confused by the words above. Who do you mean you like to tell your story to? Alice Miller? Are you aware that Alice Miller passed away on April 14, 2010?

No, I don’t know any clinicians or experts who are carrying on Alice Miller’s work.

I think you are referring to Dr. Gabor Maté.  I quote him in my book on page 36 -- he understands well the reasons for mental illness, addictions and chronic illnesses that are linked to childhood loss and trauma. I quote him once in my book to prove that are other professionals saying what Alice says. He does a good analysis of the causes but recommends the same old tools, like yoga and meditation. These tools only it does, is manipulate people feelings, giving the illusion that it helps, but is just a temporary and superficial fix, because at the end strengthens people repression and making it harder to resolve, and as long people go on repressing their authentic feelings, they will be driven by them into repetition compulsion sooner or later in one form or another. Here is were most professionals get stuck and keep their patients stuck. Feeling the full range of the repressed feelings of the child they once were is too scary for most people.

I hope my book will be a valuable kick-starter for others that are looking to really understand themselves and others. The fact that the IQ scores are increasing doesn’t give me much hope, because from my experience the smarter people are, the more they use their sharp intellect to come up with rationalizations and seductive theories to evade and run by creating a smokescreen to cover up and hide the facts and evidence from themselves and others. It takes courage to face and feel our repression, intelligence alone is not enough, but it rather helps create pretty seductive lies and illusions.

I agree with you that the world is a big beehive and any disturbance in the periphery and with the aid of technology can affect the entire hive nearly instantaneously. If society doesn’t wake up from the effects of childhood repression soon, we will destroy ourselves much faster with the aid of technology. Like Alice Miller said in her letter to you with title We all are the crew “I agree with you. But to become aware of the fact that our obedience learned in childhood doesn't allow us to think freely needs probably more than many hundred years. I am not sure if the tortured planet leaves us the necessary time to understand this fact, to protest against it, and to become a conscious, responsible member of the crew.”

This is of course exacerbated by my geographical location here in Italy and the daily arrival of several hundreds of refugees from the middle east and Africa. I am afraid to say that if Alice Miller were alive today she would probably be catastrophic. It is too late it is only a question of time. The middle east and Africans of the Islamic religion are so brainwashed by religion and see no hope in the two cultures integrating. Forced integration now is further repression delaying individual evolution. What is happening in many Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia is shocking like stoning women circumcisions lashing in public... The bees are already out of control.

"An AI expert who once worked for Google has said prospective parents should hold off having kids until the tech is controlled - because of the potentially catastrophic effect it could have.

Speaking on an episode of the Diary of a CEO podcast, Mo Gawdat, an ex-chief business officer at Google X, warned risks caused by artificial intelligence in the immediate future outweigh even the potential devastation which could be caused by climate change.

Not having children that's what I'm most proud of! I was a very young child when I realized this world is messed up and I made a conscious decision to not bring children to this crazy world. I promised myself that the pain would stop with me. 

The great malady of our society, implicated in all our troubles and affecting us individually and socially, is the idealization of our parents and childhood and the denial of childhood suffering.

Malignant narcissists' sadism is epic. Hurting and destroying others' lives is their pain-killing drug. It's an addiction that keeps their own childhood repression intact.

Narcissists are control freaks and use money as a tool to control and punish others, which is why they become so addicted to money, because they have the illusion that with money, they can be in charge of everything and will protect them from having to face the fears of resolving their own childhood repression.
